New UK restrictions are urgently needed covering bank and building society lending.
However, the test should be based on how much the borrower can safely afford to borrow, not depending on how much the lender can justify lending.
End-user protection is what is needed now. Stronger bank restrictions alone simply won’t resolve the problem.
